Privacy
We collect as little as we can: your email address if you sign up, and what our payment provider tells us if you pay. We never ask for anything about your child.
Last updated October 22, 2026.
In short
- No ads, on the site or in the emails.
- No tracking cookies.
- No questions about your child. Sign-up is for grown-ups.
- We never sell or rent your email address.
- One click unsubscribes you. Write once and we delete your details (our payment provider keeps the purchase records the law requires).
Who we are

What we collect, and why
If you just visit
Nothing that identifies you. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites. Our host, Cloudflare, sees your IP address to deliver the pages, as every web host does. It also tells the site which country you're in, so we can show Letter or A4 paper and the right spelling; we don't store it.
Cloudflare processes your IP address only to deliver pages, keep the site secure and count visits. It is not used to contact, profile or advertise to anyone.
If you pick a version of the site (US, UK, India or Other), your browser remembers that choice on your own device; it is never sent to us. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.
If you sign up for the free email
We keep your email address, the date you signed up, and the IP address and rough location you signed up from (Kit records these). Kit also notes when you open an email or click a link, so we can see which puzzles are useful; turning off images in your email app stops the open count. The emails bring the weekly puzzles and, now and then, news about membership. Our email service is Kit (ConvertKit), which stores the list for us in the United States. You confirm your address before the first email, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
If you become a member
Payments are handled by our payment provider, which acts as the seller and collects sales tax or VAT for your country. It sees your card details; we never do. It tells us your name, email address, country and what you bought, so we can give you access. We keep your email address and membership dates on our own system at Cloudflare, where your weekly sets and members' sheets are stored. When you sign in on the site, we send a one-time sign-in link to your email through Resend, and the site sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days, or until you sign out. It is needed for signing in and isn't used for tracking. We also send you renewal reminders before your membership renews.
If you buy a school plan, we also keep the school's name, the named teacher's email and, for a co-branded plan, the school's logo. If you become a partner, we keep your name, email address and the sales made through your link.
If you write to us or fill out a form
We keep your message so we can answer it. Forms on the site are run by Tally. If you ask for reduced or free access, we delete any document and what you told us about your situation as soon as we've read it, from our inbox, trash and forms, within 7 days. We keep only your email address and the code we sent you.
Children
The puzzles are for children; the sign-up is not. We ask only for a grown-up's email address. We don't ask for a child's name, age, school or photo, and we don't knowingly collect any information from children. If you think a child has given us their details, write to us and we'll delete them.
Who else handles your data
- Cloudflare: hosts the site and counts visits without cookies.
- Kit: sends the weekly email and keeps the list.
- Our payment provider: takes payments, as the seller of record.
- Resend: sends members' sign-in emails.
- Tally: runs the forms.
- Google (Gmail): our inbox for hello@mathypuzzles.com.
Cloudflare, Kit, Resend, Tally and Google handle your data for us, under their own data agreements and privacy policies. Our payment provider is the seller of record for memberships, so it also keeps your purchase details under its own privacy policy.
We run Mathy Puzzles from India, and these services store data in the United States and elsewhere. Where the law asks for it, the services protect these transfers with the safeguards they offer, such as standard contract clauses.
Why we're allowed to
- The weekly email: your consent, which you give when you sign up and confirm. You can take it back any time by unsubscribing.
- Membership: to provide what you paid for.
- Running the site and answering messages: our legitimate interest in a working, secure site and in helping you.
How long we keep it
Your email address stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Member records are kept for 2 years after a membership ends, and messages for 2 years, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Our payment provider keeps purchase records as the law requires.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from any email with one click.
- Ask us what we hold about you, or to correct, delete, limit or hand it over to you; object to how we use it; or take back your consent. Write to hello@mathypuzzles.com.
- If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, tell us first. You may also complain to the data protection authority where you live, such as the ICO in the UK or your national authority in the EU.
